NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Senior Kyle McAlarney (Staten Island, N.Y.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 27.0 points in leading Notre Dame to a 3-1 record in four games last week. The Irish sharpshooter also shot 52.2 percent (36-69) from the field and was 30-55 (.545) from three-point range.

Jonny Flynn of Syracuse was named the player of the week, while Greg Monroe of Georgetown copped rookie-of-the-week honors.

Joining McAlarney on the honor roll were Deonta Vaughn (Cincinnati), Dar Tucker (DePaul), Sam Young (Pittsburgh) and Dante Cunningham (Villanova).

McAlarney recorded back-to-back 30-plus point outings for the first time since Troy Murphy in 2000. He had a career-high 39 points as he connected on 12-26 shots from the field and made a career-high and school record 10 three-point field goals in 18 attempts. Four nights later, McAlarney tallied 32 points, the fifth 30-plus point outing of his career, as he finished 11-20 from the field that included a 9-17 shooting performance from three-point range.

His 10 three pointers against the Tar Heels and nine in the win over Furman were the most by an opposing player.

McAlarney was named to the all-tournament team at the EA Sports Maui Invitational as he led Notre Dame into the championship game against the Tar Heels and averaged 25.3 points in the three games. The Irish captain scored 18 points in an 88-50 win over Indiana and followed that up with a 19-point performance in Notre Dame's 81-80 win over sixth-ranked Texas.

McAlarney is averaging 19.7 points per game and is shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 50.8 percent from three-point range.
