Dec. 4, 2006

Notre Dame, Ind. - For the second time in his career, Notre Dame junior forward Rob Kurz (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The junior forward was one of five players named to the team after averaging 19.6 points and 7.7 rebounds as he shot 72.7 percent (16-22) from the field in a 3-0 week for the Irish as they posted wins over Lehigh (93-87), Winston-Salem St. (90-45) and Maryland (81-74).

Currently Notre Dame's leading scorer (15.4 points) and rebounder (8.0 rebounds), Kurz finished with a career-best 25 points and eight rebounds in the win over Lehigh and then followed that up two days later with a perfect shooting performance from the field against Winston-Salem St. as he was 5-5 from the field and 8-8 from the free-throw line in netting 18 points. In addition to scoring 18 points, he also grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Against Maryland, he scored in double figures for the fifth consecutive outing and sixth time in seven games this season as he netted 16 points and grabbed five rebounds.

His current five-game double-figure scoring streak is the longest of his career. Kurz is shooting 66.0 percent from the field (35-53), 54.5 percent from three-point range (6-11) and 94.1 percent (32-34) from three-point range through seven games this season.
