NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- University of Notre Dame sophomore forward Troy Murphy was named the BIG EAST Conference co-player-of-the-week on Monday for his performance on Saturday. Murphy scored 30 points along with 10 rebounds against the Keydets in a 79-66 Irish victory that evened Notre Dame's record at 5-5.
Murphy shared the honor with Marcus Goree of West Virginia. The award marks the second time this season that Murphy has been named the conference player-of-the-week as he was also honored Nov. 22.
Murphy is currently the leading scorer in the BIG EAST Conference at 24.0 points per game and is second in rebounding at 10.7 per contest.
The Irish return to action on Wednesday when they play host to Rider at 7:30 p.m. EST in the Joyce Center.
