NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- University of Notre Dame sophomore forward Troy Murphy
was named the BIG EAST Conference co-player-of-the-week on Monday for his
performance against Rider last Wednesday.
Murphy scored 32 points and had nine rebounds in the win against the Broncs
that raised the Irish record to 6-5 on the season. Murphy leads the BIG EAST
in scoring at 24.7 points per game and is second in rebounding at 10.5 per
game.
The award marks the third time this season and second week in a row that
Murphy has been named the conference player-of-the-week as he was also
honored Nov. 22 and Dec. 20.
The Irish return to action on Tuesday when they play host to Elon at 7:30
p.m. EST in the Joyce Center.
