Notre Dame Head Coach Lou Holtz:
"I want to congratulate Navy. They always play hard and they never give up. Those are fine qualities in our future military officers."

"Overall, I was pleased with the way we played. We made some big plays on defense, and I thought the offensive line played very well. We knew we had to make some plays on the line of scrimmage. Every time Navy scored, we responded and I was real pleased with that."

Navy Head Coach Charlie Weatherbie:
"We are disappointed with the way we performed today. We played a good Notre Dame football team and you can't give them the opportunities we did with turnovers. Our fundamentals were not very strong. They are a good, physical football team and we had trouble up front on either side of the ball."

"Fundamentally, we didn't play Navy football. This loss hurts us. We had a great opportunity to play and beat a good Notre Dame team."
