Player Profile
Position:
Defensive Graduate Assistant

The 2006 season will be Jeff Burrow's second as Notre Dame's defensive graduate assistant coach following a two-year stint on the staff at the University of Minnesota. Burrow works on the defensive side of the ball, assisting with all aspects of the defense and working specifically with defensive backs coach Bill Lewis.

The 2005 Irish defensive backs were an opportunistic group, producing 19 turnovers (13 interceptions and six fumble recoveries) while contributing to Notre Dame's plus-10 turnover margin. The Irish defense limited opponents to only a 35 percent success rate on third downs while Notre Dame foes have scored touchdowns on only 56 percent of red zone opportunities.

A native of Sylvester, Ga., Burrow comes to Notre Dame after serving as a graduate assistant coach at the University of Minnesota under head coach Glen Mason the past two seasons. Prior to working at Minnesota, Burrow served two seasons (2001-02) as defensive backs coach at Greenville (IL) College where he coached defensive backs under head coach Scotty Kessler, in addition to serving as the team's strength and conditioning coach.

As a player, Burrow was a two-year starter at cornerback at the University of Cincinnati. He attended Cincinnati from 1995-99, where he was a four-year letterman under then-head coach Rick Minter (now Notre Dame's defensive coordinator). He played one season of professional football, signing as a free agent with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League in 2000 but his season was cut short by an injury.

Burrow earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Cincinnati in 1999, and a master's degree in education from the University of Minnesota in 2004. Born July 17, 1976, Burrow lives in Mishawaka.
