    Part of talented Notre Dame kicking game that ranked among best in the nation a year ago . . . capable of contributing as either kicker or punter, though he's most likely to assist with field goals, PATs or kickoffs, while working with Nick Setta . . . backup kicker in 2000 . . . versatile kicker who can handle anything from punting to placekicks to kickoffs. AS A JUNIOR: Backup kicker in 2000 . . . made first appearance of season in fourth quarter vs. Navy, registering a touchback on his only kickoff . . . kicked off twice vs. Rutgers.

    AS A SOPHOMORE: Made placekicking debut vs. Arizona State, connecting on six of seven PATs (only miss was blocked) . . . connected on first two field goals of his career, from 37 and 33 yards vs. USC . . . had 43-yard field-goal attempt blocked vs. Navy . . . suffered hip flexor injury vs. Tennessee and missed final three games of '99 . . . finished with 21 special team appearances.
