Expected to help '99 Irish at offensive guard slot after previously competing as center . . . probably will work at right guard entering fall camp . . . came out of spring drills as top backup at center position on '98 Irish offensive line and worked in that role during '98 campaign . . . made switch from guard to center and was penciled in to work with regular John Merandi there, then came back to guard prior to '99 campaign . . . made solid strides during '97 spring drills after watching rookie campaign from sidelines . . . displays good skills and will provide solid depth for Irish despite minimal experience . . . gained plenty of work in spring of '97 with Mike Rosenthal and Alex Mueller both sidelined by injuries.
