    CAREER: Strong and explosive running back who has been used in the past in short-yardage situations but will be called upon more often as a rusher this year ... selected a team captain for the second year in a row, joining John Carlson, Maurice Crum and Tom Zbikowski ... approved for a fifth year by Notre Dame's Faculty Board on Athletics ... after playing both linebacker and running back in 2006, he moves to running back exclusively in 2007 ... will be a major factor in the Irish rushing attack ... gained 351 yards on 101 career carries with seven touchdowns and caught five passes at Notre Dame for 39 yards ... played in 34 games for the Irish, starting 12 contests (10 starts came in 2006 as a linebacker) ... recorded 35 tackles, including 22 solo tackles, five tackles for loss and one sack in Notre Dame career.
