Notre Dame Postgame Quotes
Boston College vs. Notre Dame
October 2, 2010
Alumni Stadium, Chestnut Hill, Mass.
Head Coach Brian Kelly:
Overall:
"Well we got off to a fast start I think that was key on the road against a team that obviously that has
given us trouble. We talked about getting off to the fast start I think we had three touchdowns in our first
four possessions which obviously gave us a lot of confidence early on."
"Our defense played great against the run. We really focused on taking the run away, knowing that there
would be quarterbacks coming in and out of the game. I think we really focused on the rush game and I
think we ended up holding BC to five yards in rushing. Anytime you win on the road, we played good
rush defense, get off to a good start - we have a lot of work to do again. Those are the things you are
looking for on the road. We were able to come up with some real big stops defensively as well."
Confidence of the team:
"I think we got off to a good start. It says a lot about the preparation leading into the game. We have
played three really good teams leading into this game. We just have not shown confidence in the games.
Right now we are running hot and cold on the offensive side of the ball."
On the development of Dayne Crist:
"He has to be a spread quarterback or he can't be the quarterback here. He's all in. He had a good week
of practice and preparation this week. He's developing. He's showing signs."
Junior QB Dayne Crist
On the quick start:
"We had to come out ready to play. The guys knew this was going to be a tough BC defense. We have a
lot of respect for them and we knew we had to come out with a great intensity and we knew that they
would match that. It was one of those situations where guys came ready to go and I'm really proud of the
offense."
On the importance of the win:
"It was huge. Guys knew how close we were. We've told you this before, but guys weren't down after
those losses, because we know how this team can play. We know the potential this team has and where
we can go. We're just trying to be masters of our own destiny, take it one game at a time and do
everything we can to get wins. It feels great. There is not better feeling than winning. Guys are happy,
jumping around the locker room and it's a great team to share it with."
Junior WR Mike Floyd
On Dayne Crist:
"It's getting him comfortable. The lineman and the receivers catching the balls make any quarterback feel
comfortable. We need to make sure he stays like that."
On the Notre Dame defense:
"They did a tremendous job. To hold them to back to 13 points is magnificent. We took pride in that.
Give the defense credit. Our offense is very happy with how the defense did tonight."
