NOTRE DAME POSTGAME NOTES
Vs. Boston College * Fenway Park * Boston, Massachusetts * November 21, 2015

TEAM NOTES

  • The Irish improve to 10-1 with the win. Coupled with 2012, it is the first time the Irish have won double digits twice in a four year span since winning at least 10 games in four out of five years from 1988-93.
  • The Irish have beaten five ACC teams this year (Virginia, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest and Boston College). It marks the first time the Irish have ever beaten five teams from the same conference in one season. Notre Dame beat four Big Ten teams six times, most recently in 1993. The Irish improve to 139-59-3 against the current ACC lineup.
  • The Irish have now won five straight games over BC and lead the series 14-9. The Irish retain the Frank Leahy Memorial Bowl with the win. Notre Dame possesses each of its five travelling trophies. The Legends Trophy will be on the line next Saturday at No. 15 Stanford.
  • The Irish have now outscored their opponents 116-43 in the first quarter of games this year, its highest scoring and most lopsided quarter of the season.
  • Notre Dame turned the ball over five times for the first time since a 55-31 loss at Arizona State on Nov. 8, 2014.
  • Boston College got no points off of Notre Dame’s five turnovers.
  • This is the seventh installment of the Shamrock Series which, since 2009, has seen Notre Dame take one of its home games to a neutral site. Next year’s contest will be played against Army on Veteran’s Day weekend, Nov. 12, 2016, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
  • Notre Dame is now 7-0 in the Shamrock Series.
  • Notre Dame improved to 2-0 all-time at Fenway Park, joining its 64-0 win over Dartmouth in 1944.
  • The Irish were held to just 19 points tonight, the first time this season they have been held under 22. The string of 10 straight games to begin a season with at least 22 points matched the school record established in 1949.
  • Tonight’s attendance of 38,686 is a sellout. The Irish have sold out each of their 11 games this year.
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
  • DeShone Kizer now has 18 TD passes on the season, tying Rick Mirer (1991) for ninth in a season in school history.
  • Both Chris Brown (104) and Amir Carlisle (97) set career highs for most receiving yards.
  • Kizer had his second career 300-yard game, joining only his 321-yard night at Clemson on Oct. 3.
  • Josh Adams now has 592 rushing yards on the year, fourth-best on the school’s freshman chart.
  • Will Fuller broke the 1,000-yard receiving plateau with his third catch of the night and now has 1,00 yards on the season. Fuller joins MLB free agent pitcher Jeff Samardzija (2005-06), Golden Tate (2008-09) and Michael Floyd (2010-11) as the only Notre Dame players with consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons.
  • Will Fuller’s 32-yard catch in the third quarter was his 12th this season of at least 30 yards.
  • Max Redfield’s sack in the second quarter was the first of his career.
  • Amir Carlisle’s TD catch was his first of the season.
  • With 11 tackles tonight, Jaylon Smith has reached double digits in tackles in four of the last five games.
  • Justin Yoon has now connected on each of his last nine field goal attempts. His last miss came on Sept. 12 at Virginia. The streak ties for the fifth-longest in school history. It is the longest since David Ruffer’s school-record streak of 23 made in a row from 2009-10.
  • RB C.J. Prosise eclipsed the 1,000-yardplateau on the season with his second carry of the game, a 31-yard scamper. At 150 carries on the season, it is the second-fastest in school history to that milestone, topped only by Reggie Brooks’ 120 in 1992. Playing in his 10th game, it ties for the fourth-quickest in school history, beaten only by eight for former New England Patriots Vagas Ferguson (1979) and nine games by Brooks (1992) and Autry Denson (1998). He now has 157 carries on the year for 1,029 yards.
  • By David Ortiz’s personal request, Torii Hunter, Jr., son of MLB All Star Torii Hunter, dressed in “Big Papi’s” locker.
