June 24, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - University of Notre Dame junior tight end Kyle Rudolph and junior wide receiver Michael Floyd have both been selected 2010 preseason All-Americans by Sporting News. Rudolph was tabbed a first-team selection, while Floyd garnered second-team status.

Rudolph (Cincinnati, Ohio) was the only sophomore named a semifinalist for the 2009 John Mackey Award, the trophy presented annually to college football's top tight end. Rudolph has started 22 of 23 career games played. He started nine of 10 games played in 2009 and ranked third on the team with 33 receptions for 364 yards and three touchdowns. Rudolph has also been named a preseason first-team All-American by Lindy's and third-team selection by NationalChamps.net.

Floyd (St. Paul, Minn.) has averaged 84.1 receiving yards per game for his career, tops among all active players in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision. He has totaled 92 receptions for 1,514 yards with 16 touchdowns in his career. Floyd has started 17 of 18 career games played. In 2009, Floyd started all seven games he played and ranked second on the team with 44 catches for 795 yards and nine touchdowns. Floyd has also been named a preseason first-team All-American by Lindy's.
