Lewis-Moore Named to 2010 Ted Hendricks Award Watch List

Aug. 11, 2010

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Notre Dame junior defensive end Kapron Lewis-Moore was named to the 2010 Ted Hendricks Award Watch List on Wednesday. Lewis-Moore was one of 36 players mentioned for the award that is presented annually to the nation's top college defensive end.

Lewis-Moore (Weatherford, Texas) made tremendous strides as sophomore in 2009. He appeared in all 12 games and started nine a year ago after not seeing any game action as freshman in 2008. Lewis-Moore ranked sixth on team with 46 tackles, which led the Irish defensive line. He recorded the second-most tackles for loss on Notre Dame with 7.0 and his 2.5 sacks ranked third. Lewis-Moore also added one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

On-field performance, exceptional winning attitude, leadership abilities, contributions to school and community and academic preparedness are some of the criteria used to determine the award's winner. Members of the national media, head coaches, professional scouts and former winners are included in the award's voting committee. Candidates may represent any class (freshman through senior) as well as any four-year NCAA accredited school. The candidate's primary position must be defensive end.

Previous recipients of the Hendricks Award include: 2002 - Terrell Suggs (Arizona State), 2003 & 2004 - David Pollack (Georgia), 2005 - Elvis Dumervil (Louisville), 2006 - LaMarr Woodley (Michigan), 2007 - Chris Long (Virginia), 2008 - Brian Orakpo (Texas) and 2009 - Jerry Hughes (TCU).
