University of Notre Dame head football coach Charlie Weis announced this morning (Thursday, Aug. 18) that sophomore defensive lineman Brandon Nicolas has left the Irish football team.

"Brandon Nicolas voluntarily left the team this morning," said Weis.

"All of us in the football program wish Brandon well."

Nicolas (Santa Ana, Calif., Mater Dei HS) did not play during his rookie season at Notre Dame in 2004.
