NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Members of the University of Notre Dame football family who have died during the past year will be recognized as part of the pre-game flag presentation, including a moment of silence, prior to the start of Notre Dame's 2010 season-opening football game Saturday against Purdue at Notre Dame Stadium.

The national colors will be presented Saturday by six individuals:

  • Current Notre Dame receiver coach Tony Alford and his mother Gloria Alford (their father and husband Robert Sr. died in June).
  • Current Notre Dame player Alex Bullard and his mother Dorothy Bullard (their father and husband Louis died in April).
  • Jerry and Peggy James, whose son Matt - an incoming freshman player for 2010 - lost his life last April.
  • Joining them in the presentation will be Notre Dame athletics director Jack Swarbrick and his wife Kimberly.
