Brindza Kicks No. 22 Notre Dame Past Purdue 20-17
Tommy Rees came off the bench to lead Notre Dame on a last-minute, winning drive Saturday as the No. 22 Irish got a 27-yard field goal from Kyle Brindza with seven seconds to go and beat Purdue 20-17.
Notre Dame has played in front of sellout crowds in 257 of its previous 299 games (.860) overall. Notre Dame has played before 628 sellouts in 900 total games (.698) since 1930.
Saturday's game has yet to sell out.

Notre Dame is ranked No. 21 in both the Associated Press AND USA Today Coaches' poll. Purdue is not ranked in either poll.

Notre Dame and Purdue will meet for the 85th time in the all-time series Saturday. The Irish lead the series by a 56-26-2 count.
Over the last 27 meetings, Notre Dame holds a 22-5 advantage. The Irish won from 1986-96, 1998, 2000-02, 2005-06 and 2008-12. Purdue claimed victories in 1997, 1999, 2003-04 and 2007.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
The Notre Dame-Purdue series has been filled with offensive fireworks. Since 1982 (a span of 31 meetings), the winning team has scored at least 23 points in every contest except 1993 (Notre Dame's 17-0 triumph) and 2012 (Notre Dame's 20-17 victory). The winning team has eclipsed the 30-point barrier on 16 different occasions and averaged 34.0 points per game.
Notre Dame's 56 series wins against Purdue are the second-most against any opponent - 73 against Navy is the highest.
