AS A SOPHOMORE: Entered in two events on the fall season ... played solid golf in blustery weather at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic by shooting a three-round total of 222 (+12) to finish in 27th ... fired a +23, 239, at The Invitational at the Ocean Course on Kiawah Island in South Carolina.
AS A FRESHMAN: Competed in four tournaments in his inaugural season with the Irish, taking to the course twice in the fall and twice more in the spring ... entered as an individual at three of the four tournaments, but did compete in the rotation at the Notre Dame vs. Yale Cup ... ended the year with a 76.67 stroke average, including 77.33 in the spring and 76.33 in the fall ... saw one of his two rounds (.500) counted toward the team score ... finished strong at each of four tournaments, averaging a 74.50 on his final 18 holes ... got first taste of collegiate golf at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Golf Classic, finishing tied for 58th with a three-round score of 228 (+18) ... improved on his finish by one spot at the Firestone Invitational, placing tied for 57th with a total of 230 (+14) ... his final-round 73 (+1) at the Firestone Invitational was his lowest round on the year ... opened his spring docket at the Notre Dame vs. Yale Cup, finishing fourth amongst the Irish rotation with a 36-hole score of 156 ... concluded his year competing at the one-round Battle at
the Warren, finishing in a tie for 16th after carding
a 76 (+5).
PREP AND PERSONAL: Graduated from McQuaid Jesuit ... carries an impressive golf resume on the junior and scholastic levels and he was named the top recruit in the state of New York by Golfweek in 2008 ... also had success on the AJGA and FCWT circuits ... AJGA highlights included a fourth-place showing at the Fidelity Investments Classic in Mattapoisett, Mass. in July of 2008 and tying for 10th at the Northeast Open at the Richter Park Golf Course, where he turned in a five-over par 221 (72-74-75) ... boasts five top-20 finishes, three top-10 marks and one top-5 showing in AJGA play ... also captain of his high school hockey team ... tied for first at the Pepsi Little Peoples Golf Championship at the Spring Lake CC in Quincy, Ill. in June of 2008 as he fired a minus-one 143 (69-74) to finish atop the 117-player field ... in June of 2009, he tied for 17th at the Southern Jr. Championship, which was played at Reynolds Landing in Greensboro, Ga., turning in a five-over par 221 (75-77-69) at the event ... in high school action, Lane tied for third at the New York State High School Golf Championship as a junior in May of 2009, shooting a two-over par 146 ... helped McQuaid Jesuit to the 2008 Section 5 State title and he was named a Section 5 All-Greater Rochester honoree in 2008 and 2009 after finishing as the runner-up at the Individual Section 5 Golf Championships ... an all-State selection in 2009 ... recently completed the First Year of Studies program ... enrolled in the Mendoza College of Business.
