AS A SENIOR: Named captain following the fall semester ... participated in 10 of 12 tournaments, logging a career-low 75.10 stroke average, the 11th-best single-season mark by an Irish player since 1990 ... set personal bests with five rounds of par or better and 18 rounds of 75 or lower in his final campaign … opened the fall in strong fashion, finishing in a tie for fifth (field of 91) at the prestigious Fresno Lexus Golf Classic ... opened the tournament with a first round, three-under par 69 on the way to a 54-hole total of three-under par 213, that helped the team to a ninth-place finish ... followed with a 12-over par 228 (76-77-75) and a tie for 56th at the Southern Methodist Stonebridge Invitational ... closed the fall with a six-over par 54-hole total of 219 (73-71-75) at Stanford’s Nelson Invitational … opened the spring with a two-round score of 147 (74-73) at the Big Red Classic … faltered at the Conrad Rehling Invitational with an opening-round 81, but still posted three-round total of 235 (81-77-77) … was in contention through first two rounds of Johnny Owens Invitational, but shot final-round 85 to finish at 238 … led Irish to 13th-place tie at Ohio State’s Robert Kepler Invitational, tying teammate Mark Baldwin for 30th place with a 230 (75-77-78) … saved his best golf for the end of the year, placing fourth at the BIG EAST Championship with a 222 (72-77-73) and earning all-BIG EAST honors … followed that up with a 13th-place finish at the Bruce Fossum/TaylorMade Classic, firing a season-low 71 in the opening round and logging a 54-hole total of one-over par 217 (71-72-74). AS A JUNIOR: Played in nine of 12 tournaments during the season finishing fifth on the team with a 77.17 average ... had 17 of 23 rounds count to team scoring during the season ... had a strong fall with a 73.86 average in three fall tournaments ... opened the season with a tie for third in a field of 100 at Michigan’s Wolverine Invitational with a career-best 36-hole total of even-par 142 ... opened with a two-under par 69 and closed with a two-over par 73 ... struggled at the Xavier Provident Invitational with a 13-over par total 226 (72-70-84) as the team tied for eighth ... tied for 21st at the Tillinghast Invitational with a nine-over par 149 (75-74) ... tied for eighth at the fall Campus Championship at the Warren Golf Course with a 306 (81-76--75-74) ... played in six of Notre Dame’s eight spring tournaments ...struggled at the Ron Smith Invitational at the University of South Florida with a pair of 85s for a 36-hole total of 170 ... tied for 51st at the Treasure Cove Classic with a 159 (81-78) ... did not play at the El Diablo Invitational ... tied for 46th at the Pepsi-Cola Invitational in Pottsboro, Texas with a 20-over par 236 (80-79-77) ... had best tournament of the spring at the Johnny Owens Invitational at Kentucky where he tied for 29th (second among Irish golfers) with a seven-over par 220 ... fired rounds of 73, 75 and 72 to help team to a 14th-place finish ... struggled at the Marshall Invitational, tying for 78th after a 21-over par 234 (79-79-76) ... closed the spring with a 23-over par 239 (84-75-80) at the Bruce Fossum/Spartan Invitational at Michigan State. AS A SOPHOMORE: Played in the final two tournaments of the spring after playing in all four fall tourneys ... finished the year with a 76.71 average for the season ... had 12 of 17 rounds count in team scoring ... first spring action came at the FirstEnergy Intercollegiate where he tied for fifth in a field of 100 with a three-over par 143 (72-71) ... was 27th at the BIG EAST Championship with a 27-over par total of 237 (84-77-76) ... had 11 of 12 rounds count in the fall ... ... was third Irish finisher tying for 23rd overall at Wisconsin Invitational with a six-over par 222 (76-74-72) ... was 61st at Minnesota Invitational with a 244 (83-85-76) ... turned in a 238 (79-78-81) at the Northern Intercollegiate for a 76th-place finish ... had a strong Legends of Indiana Tournament where he tied for second among Irish golfers and was 39th overall with a four-over 220 (72-75-73) ... opened the year by tying for fourth in the fall Campus Championship with a 294 (72-73-74-75). AS A FRESHMAN: Played in one tournament as a freshman finishing in a tie for 14th at the Treasure Coast Classic ... fired a career-low 70 in the final round as he shot a 54-hole total of 231 (79-82-70 ... finished seventh at his first fall Campus Championship with a 310 (83-79-74-74) at the Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend. PREP AND PERSONAL: A four-time all-city performer with the Tom C. Clark High School golf team ... advanced to state championship each of his four seasons – becoming the first Clark athlete to accomplish that feat in any sport ... led his team to district and regional titles each season ... named Greater San Antonio player of the year ... team captain and MVP as a senior, when he was named all-state and earned a No. 48 national ranking ... tied for second at ’99 district championship ... tied for sixth at regional championship ... tied for seventh at state championship ... played on fifth-place team at AJCA Justin Leonard Team Challenge with a 64 in first-round best ball, 73 in second-round alternate shot and 78 in third-round combined (he shot 74) ... earned chance to play with Leonard in that event, due to his team’s first-round lead ... shot 75-75 in AJGA Tournament of Champions, at Ohio State Scarlet Course ... posted 72-74 at Western Junior Championship (Treetops Sylvan Resort; Gaylord, Mich.) ... closed summer in San Antonio, with 76-86 at U.S. Amateur Qualifier (Sonterra C.C.) ... born Dec. 15, 1980, in San Antonio, Texas ... son of Roger and Rena Lunke ... graduated with degrees in finance and history in May of 2003.
