MOBILE, ALA. - The Notre Dame men's golf team wrapped its first tournament of the spring season on Tuesday afternoon, finishing in sixth place at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course. The Irish carded its best round of the tournament today with a 284 (-4), finishing with an 873 (+9).

"It's our first event of the spring and we will get a lot better," Notre Dame head coach John Handrigan said. "We have a great team that will improve in our next event. We are excited to get back on the road Saturday for California."

Sophomore Davis Lamb notched his best tournament to date, tying for eighth place with a career best three-under par (213). Lamb shot even-par for the first round, then followed that with two rounds under-par at 70 and 71, respectively.

The tournament marked the fourth time of Lamb's career in which he led the Irish. It also marked his second top-10 finish.

"Lamb has been working hard," Handrigan said. "He's playing very confident golf. He did a lot of things this past week that don't necessarily show up on the scorecard. I'm very happy for him."

FINAL ROUND
Lamb continued his tournament trend of finding success on the back-nine. The sophomore carded a two-under on the back in round one, three-under in round two, then two-under this afternoon in round three.

Both Davis Chatfield and Hunter Ostrom tied for 27th place with a 220 (+4) tournament total. Chatfield, who recorded four rounds under par during the fall campaign, notched two in the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate, including a two-under (70) round today.

"This coming week we'll continue to work on course management, mindset and just some small things we worked hard on in the fall," Handrigan added.

ON DECK
The Irish return to the links on Monday, Feb. 19, for the Prestige at PGA West in La Quinta, California.
