NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Two-time BIG EAST Golfer of the Year and BIG EAST champion Max Scodro has been named both a Division I PING and Golfweek Honorable Mention All-American, becoming the first Notre Dame All-American men's golfer since 1980.

Overall, Scodro becomes the 23rd All-America recipient in Irish program history and is the first since John Lundgren earned honorable mention distinction following the 1980 season. The Chicago, Ill., product was one of 50 golfers named to the Golfweek All-American teams, which was determined by the players' order in the final Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings. Scodro concluded the year ranked 46th.

A total of 61 golfers were named members of the Division I PING All-America Teams with 11 selections named to the first team, 10 named to both the second and third teams and 31 chosen as honorable mention selections. In addition to being the first Notre Dame All-American in 32 years, Scodro also represents the lone BIG EAST golfer to be named to either team this year.

On the season, Scodro put together the lowest single-season stroke average in program history with his 71.25 mark en route to posting 10 top-25, seven top-10 and four top-five finishes. He also carded the team-leading effort at nine of the 11 stroke play events on the schedule aided by 16 rounds of under-par golf and an additional four rounds at even par.

For his career, Scodro graduated from the Notre Dame program as the career leader in stroke average (73.25), while serving as a member of the rotation for each of his four years with the program. Along with his 11 career top-five finishes, Scodro also earned two medalist honors during his time with the Irish, winning back-to-back BIG EAST Championships in '11 and '12. His 19 team-leading efforts over those four years also places him tied for first in that category with '07 graduate Cole Isban.

Scodro, who graduated from the Mendoza College of Business with a degree in history in May, already has enjoyed a seamless transition onto the professional circuit winning the Arizona Open at Superstition Mountain June 14-16. A resident of Scottsdale, Ariz., Scodro concluded the tournament at 201 (-15) to pull away for a three-shot victory. After opening with a first round 69 (-3), Scodro recorded identical second and third round scores of 66 (-6) to claim the championship.

One of the most decorated golfers in Notre Dame men's golf history, Scodro now turns his attention to Nationwide Qualifier events with his next scheduled to take place in Evansville, Ind., on June 25.
