NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Tom Usher (Baildon, England), a rising senior on the University of Notre Dame men's golf team, has been tabbed a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-American Scholar. The award is the first of Usher's career and also represents the first time any Irish golfer has been named to the list since Greg Rodgers in '08.

A total of 138 players at the Division I level were named to the team. To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and NAIA and 79.0 in Division III. The golfer also must maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I, II or III and 3.5 in NAIA. A recipient also must be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Usher enjoyed his most productive season with the Irish in 2010-11, playing in each of the team's first eight stroke-play tournaments before seeing his season cut short due to injury. Over his 23 rounds of golf, Usher saw 18 of his rounds counted toward the team count-four score while putting together a 74.70 season stroke average. Usher's season peaked at the St. Mary's Invitational where he earned his first career medalist honors after posting a 54-hole score of 212 (-4) to claim the title by two strokes.

For his career, Usher has competed in 20 tournaments for the Irish. He carries a 75.22 career stroke average that has seen him claim five top-10 finishes and three top-five results. In the classroom, meanwhile, Usher has excelled while pursuing a finance degree from the Mendoza College of Business.
