NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- The Notre Dame Men’s Golf Team will start the 2016-2017 season Saturday at the Notre Dame Kickoff Challenge, hosted by the Fighting Irish at the Warren Golf Course.
The Irish will look to begin the season on a high note as they get into competition mode for a busy fall season that will continue on Sept. 12 in San Francisco, California.
Date: Sept. 3, 2016
Format: 36 holes
Tee Times: The first round is slated to begin at 9:20 a.m. and the second round is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
Location: Notre Dame, Indiana
The Course: The Warren Golf Course (Par-71, 7,023 Yards)
Tournament Field: Detroit, Notre Dame, Valparaiso.
The Irish will debut three new players on Saturday: freshmen Hunter Ostrom, Davis Lamb and John Felitto. Each will look to make an impact during their first two rounds as members of the Notre Dame men’s golf team.
Ostrom will lead the Irish in the #1 position (10:20 a.m. tee time), followed by senior Blake Barens (10:10 a.m.), a perennial contender for the Irish, in the #2 group. Ostrom and Barens are followed in the lineup by sophomore Ben Albin (10:00 a.m.), junior Thomas Steve (9:50 a.m.) and senior Matt Rushton (9:40 a.m.), respectively.
Sophomores Kevin Conners and Miguel Delgado (both 9:30 a.m.), senior Liam Cox, and freshmen Lamb and Felitto (all 9:20 a.m.) will compete in the Kick Off Challenge as individual entrants.
A Look Ahead
The Irish will look to gain momentum this weekend heading into the rest of the Fall schedule. From Sept. 12-13, Notre Dame will travel to San Francisco, California, to compete in the U. of San Francisco Olympic Club Intercollegiate Tournament, followed by the Georgia State Maui Jim Intercollegiate in Scottsdale, Arizona, from Sept. 23-25.
The Irish return to South Bend for the Fighting Irish Golf Classic, on Oct. 9-11, at Warren Golf Course.
Notre Dame will then finish out the Fall semester with the Georgetown Intercollegiate from Oct. 17-18 in Beallsville, Maryland, and the McNeese State Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational, held Oct. 24-25 in Vero Beach, Florida.
