PREP & PERSONAL: Graduated from Franklin High School in Livonia, Mich. ... also attended Hempfield High School in his hometown and Davison High School in Davison, Mich., while playing for Compuware ... played high school hockey as a freshman at Hempfield where he was the team's rookie-of-the-year ... played at USA Hockey Select Festivals as a 14, 15,16 and 17-year old ... was most valuable player of his team at Select-16 festival ... drafted in 2001 in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Draft by the Mississauga Ice Dogs .... started his junior hockey career with the NAHL's Compuware team in `02-'03 where he was a teammate of former Irish standout Jason Paige `07 ... in two seasons at Sioux Falls (`03-'05), played in 109 games, scoring three goals with 14 assists for 17 points ... while with Sioux Falls won the Stampede's community service award ... spent the `05-'06 campaign with the Chicago Steel and led all Steel defensemen in scoring with seven goals and 17 assists for 24 points, good for 10th among USHL defensemen ... from a Notre Dame family as his father, Jim, is a 1972 graduate and his sister, Megan, graduated in 2006 ... full name is Stewart James Carlin ... son of Jim and Suzanne Carlin ... has one sister ... born July 12, 1985 in West Palm Beach, Fla. ... finance major in the Mendoza College of Business.
