UND.com is debuting another of its new interactive features for the 2010-11 season, with its weekly Fighting Irish Fan Chats. UND.com will sit down for a live chat session with student-athletes, coaches and administrators making news in the world of Fighting Irish athletics. Fans are invited to join in and offer questions or comments for our guests, and if you can't join us live, each chat will be archived so you can return to UND.com at your convenience and read what your favorite Notre Dame athletic personalities have to say on a variety of topics.
The Jan. 13 Fighting Irish Fan Chat featured hockey senior alternate captain Ryan Guentzel.
Guentzel and the Irish stand at 14-7-3 overall and 11-4-1 in the CCHA. Notre Dame has a four-point lead on second-place Michigan heading into action this weekend. He has played in 24 games and leads the Irish in assists with 20 and ranks second in scoring with six goals and 20 assists for 26 points. Guentzel is seventh on the team with a +9 and has one short-handed goal, one game winner and a hat trick. He registered a career-high four points, including three goals, in the 10-2 rout of Canisius on Dec. 29, 2010.
The Irish are currently ranked eighth in both the USA Today/American Hockey Magazine and USCHO.com polls and return to action on Jan. 14-15 when they play host to the University of Alaska Nanooks at the Joyce Center. Game time is 7:35 p.m. on Friday and 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.
