NOTRE DAME, Ind.
-- After a weekend split with sixth-ranked Ohio State that included clinching the 2018 Big Ten regular season championship with a 2-1 win on Friday night, the Fighting Irish hockey team remained No. 1 in both the USCHO.com and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.

It marks the sixth week this season Notre Dame has been ranked No. 1 in at least one of the two polls and the fifth week it has been at the top of both polls. The Irish received 15 first place votes in the USCHO.com poll and 14 first place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.

This season’s number one ranking marks the seventh time in program history the Irish have been ranked No. 1 for at least one week during a season.

IRISH CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY

By clinching the 2017-18 Big Ten regular season championship with a 2-1 win over Ohio State (Feb. 9), the Fighting Irish have now won six conference championships. All six championships have come under the guidance of head coach Jeff Jackson.

Notre Dame also claimed CCHA regular season championships in 2006-07 and 2008-09, while winning CCHA tournament championships in 2007, 2009 and 2013. This season’s championship marked the first in program history on home ice, as the Irish clinched the 2007 title with a 1-0 win at Alaska (Feb. 17) and then secured the 2009 title with a 1-0 win at Omaha (Feb. 21, 2009).
