Notre Dame Men's Lacrosse Headed To The NCAA Final Four

The Fighting Irish men's lacrosse team defeated Maryland, 7-5 in the NCAA quarterfinals on May 22 in Princeton, N.J.

Served as a team captain during his senior season ... earned four monograms ... copped all-BIG EAST honors as a senior ... played in 58 career games, including 44 starts on Notre Dame's first midfield line ... tallied 56 points on 31 goals and 25 assists ... 35 ground balls.

AS A SENIOR (2012): One of three team captains ... a starter in all 16 games ... posted career-high totals in goals (11), assists (9) and points (20) ... also picked up a career-best 16 ground balls ... earned second team all-BIG EAST honors ... matched a career-high total with four points on two goals and two assists in the 7-3 season-opening win over Duke ... was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for his performance against the Blue Devils ... notched a goal and an assist in a 10-9 triple-overtime victory over Denver ... deposited two goals in an 8-7 win at Ohio State ... assisted on a score in a 9-1 besting of Providence ... posted one goal and one assist in a 9-7 victory at Georgetown ... tallied the goal that knotted the game 5-5 in the early stages of the fourth quarter against the Hoyas ... assisted on the team's first goal in an 8-6 win over Syracuse that clinched the BIG EAST regular-season title for the Irish ... notched one goal and two assists in a 13-7 victory over Yale in the first round of the NCAA Championship ... tied a career-high mark with four points on three goals and one assist in a 12-10 triumph of Virginia in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship ... picked up a career-high three ground balls on three separate occasions during the season (St. John's, Rutgers, Denver) ... received his fourth monogram.

AS A JUNIOR (2011): Played in 13 games, including 11 starts ... missed one game due to injury ... posted 17 points on nine goals and eight assists ... picked up 10 ground balls ... scored a goal in the season-opening 12-7 win over Duke ... tallied a goal in a 6-2 victory at Penn State ... dished out three assists in an 11-7 triumph of Drexel ... notched a goal and an assist in an 8-3 win at Rutgers in the BIG EAST opener ... also posted a goal and an assist in a 7-6 besting of Georgetown ... his goal against the Hoyas was the game winner, a man-up tally with 2:33 left ... assisted on the score that gave the Irish a 6-5 lead earlier in the fourth quarter versus the Hoyas ... deposited a goal in a 10-7 win over St. John's ... posted a hat trick in a 14-3 road victory against Providence ... had an assist in an 11-8 setback at Syracuse ... missed the North Carolina game, a 9-8 overtime defeat, due to injury ... notched an assist in a 13-6 win over Penn in the first round of the NCAA Championship ... produced a goal and an assist in a 7-5 loss to Duke in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship ... picked up two ground balls on three occasions (Penn State, Villanova, Syracuse) ... earned his third monogram.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2010): Started all 17 games ... tallied 10 goals and eight assists ... seven ground balls ... totaled one goal and one assist in a 12-8 win over Penn State ... scored a goal in an 11-9 win over Loyola ... tallied a career-high four goals in a 7-6 overtime loss at Drexel ... notched a goal, an assist and two ground balls in a 10-8 setback to Fairfield ... assisted on two goals in a 14-7 triumph of Denver ... posted an assist and picked up a ground ball in a 7-6 overtime win against Ohio State ... scored a goal in a 9-8 loss at Villanova ... registered an assist in the 11-3 win over Providence ... had a goal and an assist in a 13-6 besting of St. John's ... assisted on a goal in a 12-6 loss to Syracuse ... scored a goal in a 7-5 win over Maryland in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.

PREP AND PERSONAL: A lacrosse standout at Western Albemarle ... a four-year letterwinner ... named the district and regional player of the year as a junior and senior along with being an all-Central Virginia selection ... four-time all-district and all-region ... earned team MVP honors as a sophomore, junior and senior ... has a school-record 185 goals and 141 assists ... four-time district champion ... team captured regional title during his freshman, junior and senior campaigns ... a two-year letterwinner in football as a receiver and defensive back ... team MVP his senior year ... son of Phillip and Donna Pfeifer ... brother, Ted, played lacrosse at Stevens Tech ... from the same area as former Irish lacrosse players Stedman Oakey (1997-2000) and Bo Perriello (1990-93) ... graduated from the Mendoza College of Business in May of 2012 with a finance degree ... finished with a 3.328 cumulative GPA.
