Virginia '99

Hannon Wright, veteran of two national championships at the University of Virginia as a player and coach, is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach for Notre Dame after filling the same role at his alma mater in 2002 and '03. In addition to other duties, he will work with the Irish goalies, including third-year starter Stewart Crosland and rookie prospect Joey Kemp.

Wright was a reserve goalie for the Cavaliers from 1996-99, earning three monograms and appearing in nine games. During his career, UVa won the 1999 national championship, reached the NCAA final in 1997, and advanced to the national semis in '98. He was a co-winner of the Unsung Hero Award in his final campaign.

A 1999 graduate with a degree in English, Wright first enrolled in law school at William & Mary before transferring to Virginia's School of Law for his final two years of study. A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Wright graduated from Norfolk Academy in 1995 after being a two-time all-prep standout in lacrosse.
