Box Score

HEMPSTEAD, New York - Chad Eisenhart's goal 2:11 into the first overtime gave the 15th ranked Flying Dutchmen of Hofstra (5-2) a 10-9 victory over the 13th ranked Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (5-3) Saturday afternoon before 4,287 at Hofstra Stadium. The Dutchmen victory, their fifth consecutive win, snapped Notre Dame's overtime-game winning streak at seven, dating back to 1985.

Hofstra scored the first four goals of the game, including Scott Dooley's first of two on the day just six seconds into the contest. Tom Glatzel put Notre Dame on the board with an unassisted goal at the 14:15 mark of the first quarter before David Ulrich scored twice in the second quarter to close the deficit to 4-3 at the 8:38 mark. But Dooley, who tallied two goals and three assists on the day, assisted on Jacob Rogers' second goal of the game and seventh of the season at the 9:17 mark, and Michael Laurano's fourth goal of the season at the 11:40 mark to give Hofstra a 6-3 lead at halftime.

Hofstra senior co-captain Chris Rogler gave Hofstra a 7-3 lead just 46 seconds into the third period on a feed from Doug Shanahan. Notre Dame's Tom Glatzel scored his second goal of the game and the 17th of the season at the 3:00 mark to bring the Irish back to within three goals at 7-4. But Hofstra sophomore Joe Barile recorded his second goal of the year 24 seconds later to boost the Hofstra lead to 8-4.

From that point of the period, it was all Notre Dame. Chris Dusseau notched his 15th goal of the season off a feed from Tom Glatzel at the 5:59 mark. David Ulrich scored his third goal of the game and his 12th of the season on a Hofstra miscue, scoring from 35 yards out with 5:57 to play in the third. Finally, Revere LaNoue scored with 42 seconds to play in the quarter to bring Notre Dame back to within one at 8-7.

Hofstra got a little breathing room when Dooley scored an unassisted goal 9:22 into the fourth quarter to boost the Dutchmen lead to 9-7. But Dusseau scored less than a minute later off a pass from David Ulrich with 4:47 remaining in regulation. On the goal, Hofstra defenseman Kevin Warne was sent off for a slash and Dusseau made the Dutchmen pay for it. With just two seconds remaining in the penalty, Dusseau took a pass from Glatzel and notched his third goal of the game and 17th of the year to tie the game at 9-9 with 3:49 to play. Both teams had chances to win the game in the waning seconds but Hofstra's goalie Mike Demeo made a big save on a Glatzel shot with 40 seconds left while Hofstra's Joe Astarita whistled a shot above the goal as time expired.

The overtime was all Hofstra as UND goalie made two saves and was saved by the goalpost on a Chad Eisenhart shot. On the winning goal, Dooley picked up a loose ball 30 yards from the Irish goal. Eisenhart, in the middle of the field, caught Dooley's pass, took two steps and fired a bounce-shot past UND goalie Kirk Howell.
