Irish Place Three on Inside Lacrosse All-America First Team

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame men's lacrosse program had six players earn preseason All-America recognition from Inside Lacrosse, as part of the 2017 Face-Off Yearbook. The Irish trio of senior midfielder Sergio Perkovic, senior defender Garrett Epple and senior goalie Shane Doss all received first team status. Notre Dame is one of three teams to place three student-athletes on the first team.

Other Irish players to garner recognition heading into the 2017 season are sophomore attackman Ryder Garnsey (third team), junior long-stick midfielder John Sexton (third team) and junior attackman Mikey Wynne (honorable mention).

Perkovic is coming off back-to-back United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Nike All-America first team honors heading into his senior campaign. Sexton and Doss merited third team recognition from the organization last spring following the season.

The 2016 campaign marked the 12th consecutive season Notre Dame produced multiple USILA All-America selections. In 28 seasons under head coach Kevin Corrigan, the Irish have had 40 different players earn 75 All-America citations.

The Fighting Irish get the 2017 season underway in Florida, as the team trains at IMG Academy for the week before playing the US National Team in an exhibition on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 1 p.m. ET. The regular season begins in Dallas with a neutral site matchup against Georgetown on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. ET at The Star; the Dallas Cowboys newly constructed $1.5 billion facility.

The University of Notre Dame men's lacrosse team pursues excellence on and off the field through the three pillars in which the program is built: Character, Culture & Community. These three foundational values guide the promise of the program, which is to provide its student-athletes with the most compelling and enriching experience in all of college athletics. Through academics, competition, service and travel, the program aims to immerse its players in situations that enhance their student-athlete experience to help them become the people, students and teammates they aspire to be.
