Irish Welcome Richmond For Noon Faceoff On Saturday

Notre Dame Game Notes 

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- 
No. 7/8 Notre Dame hosts Richmond on Saturday, Feb. 24 in the team’s second game of the 2018 season. Faceoff is scheduled for noon (ET) and will be played at Arlotta Stadium.

The Richmond Series

  • Saturday’s meeting with Richmond will be the first between the Irish and Spiders.

  • Richmond is in its fifth season as an NCAA DI program.

  • In their first season of collegiate lacrosse in 2014, the Spiders won the Atlantic 10 Tournament and made the NCAAs.

Fantastic Februarys

  • Notre Dame is 26-1 in its last 27 games played in February dating back to the 2006 season. Fighting Irish head coach Kevin Corrigan is 34-5 in the month of February during his Notre Dame tenure.

  • The Irish are 1-0 this season in February, picking up a 10-7 win in the opener against Detroit.

Costabile's Career Day

  • Sophomore midfielder Bryan Costabile turned in the best performance of his career in the 2018 season-opening win over Detroit. Costabile scored a career-high five goals and dished out a personal best two assists to total seven points.

  • Following his standout game, Costabile was named to the USILA National Team of the Week (2/12).

ACC's Top Televised Team

  • Eight of Notre Dame’s 12 regular season contests will air on either ESPNU, FS1 or Big Ten Network.

  • Notre Dame has more nationally televised games than any other Atlantic Coast Conference program.

  • Notre Dame’s first nationally televised game will be against the defending national champion Maryland on Big Ten Network at 11 a.m. ET on March 3.

  • The Irish will be featured six times on ESPNU with games against Denver (March 10), Virginia (March 17), Ohio State (March 25), Syracuse (March 31) and Duke (April 7) airing on the network.

  • Notre Dame will also appear on FS1 when they travel to Milwaukee to take on Marquette (April 11).

  • The eight regular season national television broadcasts are the most Notre Dame has ever had in a single season.

Moving Up In The Ranks

  • Senior attackman Mikey Wynne ranks seventh in program history in career goals with 108.

  • Wynne is just the eighth player in program history to surpass the 100-goal mark, as he scored three times against Army in the final regular season game of the 2017 season on May 6 to reach the milestone.

Irish In The Polls

  • Notre Dame is No. 5 in the Lacrosse Magazine rankings, No. 7 in the USILA Coaches Poll and No. 8 in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll.

  • The Fighting Irish will face six of the top 10 teams from the USILA preseason rankings. Duke is currently No. 1, while Maryland (No. 3), Ohio State (No. 4), Denver (No. 5), Virginia (No. 6) and Army (No. 9) fill out the rest of the top 10.

  • Nine of Notre Dame’s remaining 11 opponents are currently ranked in the USILA Coaches Poll.

The Toughest Schedule In The Country

  • Lacrosse Reference released its estimated strength of schedule for each team and determined the Irish have the toughest upcoming 2018 schedule.

  • Irish opponents have a record of 27-5 entering the weekend of play for a win percentage of .844, which is the highest in the country.

  • Nine of Notre Dame’s 2018 opponents opened the season ranked in at least one of the national polls.

  • Seven of the teams on the upcoming schedule made the NCAA Championship field last season, including three of the four semifinal teams.

  • The Irish take on the defending national champion Maryland on March 3 in College Park, Maryland.
