Irish Open Home Schedule Against Michigan on Sunday

Notre Dame Game Notes

NOTRE DAME, Ind. --
The No. 4 Notre Dame men's lacrosse welcomes Michigan to Arlotta Stadium for the Irish home opener at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 28. The meeting will be the second in the series history between the two programs.

Garnsey's Career Day

  • Sophomore attackman Ryder Garnsey turned in the game of his young career during Saturday's opener, posting career highs in goals (6) and points (8) while matching his personal best in assists (2). 
  • Garnsey found the back of the net in all four quarters and had a hand directly in half of Notre Dame's goals.
  • The performance marked the fifth hat trick of his Irish career.
  • The eight points are tied for the second most any player in the ACC has recorded in a game this season and the six goals are second for most goals in a game by an ACC player.

The Michigan Series

  • Sunday will be the third meeting all-time between Notre Dame and Michigan. The Irish are a perfect 2-0 in the series.
  • The two programs met in 2015 and the Irish came away with a 17-8 victory in Ann Arbor.
  • Sunday's matchup will mark the first meeting between the two sides when playing at Notre Dame.

Attacking Trio

  • The Irish attack is led by three standout players in senior midfielder Sergio Perkovic, junior attackman Mikey Wynne and sophomore attackman Ryder Garnsey.
  • The trio got off to a great start in the opener, combining for 12 goals. Garnsey led the way with six, Wynne added four and Perkovic scored twice.
  • Of Notre Dame's 165 goals from the 2016 season a large majority came from the three players with Mikey Wynne (40), Ryder Garnsey (27) and Sergio Perkovic (26) combining for 93 goals last season. 

Owning the Openers

  • With the win over Georgetown, Notre Dame is 30-7 all-time in season openers, including a 24-5 record in the Kevin Corrigan era.
  • The Irish have won a program-record 15 straight season openers.
  • Notre Dame opened the 2017 season with a 16-10 win over Georgetown on Saturday, February 18 in Frisco, Texas at the Ford Center at The Star.
  • The Irish last dropped a season opener in 2002, a 10-9 overtime setback at home against Penn State.
  • In home openers the Irish are 32-4 in program history and 25-3 under Corrigan.
