Wynne Selected As A Senior Class Award Candidate

 Notre Dame men's lacrosse senior attackman Mikey Wynne has been named as a men's lacrosse candidate for the 2018 Senior CLASS Award. Wynne is one of 20 men's lacrosse student-athletes who have been selected as a candidate.

To be eligible for the Senior CLASS Award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Over his four years at Notre Dame, Wynne has been a standout both on and off the field for the Irish. The Sykesville, Maryland, native earned earned 2017 Inside Lacrosse All-America Honorable Mention status. 

The attackman led the Irish to the NCAA Championship semifinals (2015) and two NCAA Championship quarterfinals (2016 & 2017).

Wynne has started every game (47) of his Irish career and has scored 110 goals, which ranks tied for sixth in program history. 

In the classroom Wynne has a cumulative GPA of 3.15 while pursuing a film, television, and theatre degree with a concentration in television studies and a business economics minorWynne has done summer internships in Los Angeles in the entertainment industry and in Baltimore with the Ravens over the past few years at Notre Dame.

The senior is also heavily involved in the community, as Wynne has been a mentor at Dickinson Fine Arts Academy, a local middle school, for the last three years. For the efforts the Notre Dame men's lacrosse program was presented the ACC/United Way 
"Game Changers" Award. 

Wynne serves on the Notre Dame's Student-Athlete Advisory Council, as he has held the Vice President role and is now on the executive board for the organization. The senior is also an active member of Notre Dame Christian Athletes and has been involved with Fellowship of Christian Athletes during his time on campus. 

The senior was selected to be a part of Notre Dame's Rosenthal Leadership Academy designed for student athletes and served on a steering committee at Notre Dame where he worked with five other student athletes, the athletic director and coaches to come up with athlete time demands legislation.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition. The award program is designed exclusively for college seniors who are utilizing their complete athletic eligibility, remaining committed to their university and pursuing the many rewards a senior season can bring. Premier Sports Management manages the award.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in conjunction with the 2018 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championship in May.
