Irish and Blue Devils Renew Rivalry On Saturday

Notre Dame Game Notes

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- 
No. 3/4 Notre Dame travels to Durham to take on No. 10/10 Duke on Saturday afternoon at Koskinen Stadium. The game will mark Notre Dame’s sixth straight outing against a ranked opponent, with five of the last six coming against teams ranked in the top 10. Saturday's showdown will be broadcast live on ESPNU at noon ET.

The Duke Series

  • Saturday will be the 19th meeting all-time between Notre Dame and Duke. The Irish trail in the series with the Blue Devils, as Notre Dame has a 7-11 record in the matchup. 

  • The the two sides split the season series in 2016. The Irish won the regular season matchup at Arlotta Stadium, handing Duke an 8-6 defeat. The Blue Devils then came away with a 10-9 overtime win in the ACC tournament semifinal game in Kennesaw, Georgia.

  • The Irish are 4-4 when playing Duke in Durham, North Carolina and have won each of the last four matchups in away games.

Notre Dame Vs. Top 10 Teams

  • Notre Dame is 32-21 against teams ranked in the top 10 in the USILA Coaches Poll since the start of the 2008 season.

  • The Irish are 2-2 this season against top 10 teams, as the program defeated No. 2/1 Maryland 5-4  and No. 4/4 Ohio State 12-7 and fell to No. 4/5 Denver 11-10 and No. 3/4 Syracuse 11-10.

Irish In The ACC

  • The Irish have a combined record of 10-5 in its four seasons of ACC regular season play and 12-7 when you include ACC Tournament games. 

  • The Irish won the first conference tilt of 2017 with an 11-10 overtime victory over Virginia and fell to No. 3 Syracuse in their second outing by a score of 11-10.

  • Notre Dame also has found success in the ACC Tournament, winning the 2014 championship.

  • The Irish went a perfect 4-0 in 2015 to win their first regular season conference title and followed up with a record of 3-1 in 2016 to claim a share of the regular season championship.

  • Notre Dame is 5-2 in regular season conference road games since joining the ACC in 2014.

Chasing 100

  • Senior Sergio Perkovic enters Saturday's game against the Blue Devils just one goal shy of the 100-goal milestone for his Notre Dame career.

  • The senior is looking to become just the seventh player in program history to score at least 100 goals in a career.

  • Perkovic's 99 goals are the most scored by a midfielder in Notre Dame history.

  • The midfielder has scored more goals against Duke (14) than he has any other team over the past four seasons.

Between The Pipes

  • Senior goalkeeper Shane Doss has been a mainstay in the Notre Dame starting lineup for the majority of his career, as he has racked up 43 starts in goal. 

  • Doss leads the ACC in goals against average (8.37 per game) and save percentage (.540).

  • The goalkeeper ranks seventh on the Notre Dame all-time saves list with 417 in his career.

  • The senior has posted double-digit saves in three of his last four outings.

Last Time Out

  • The Irish played a highly contested game against No. 3 Syracuse on Saturday, April 1 at Arlotta Stadium and fell to the Orange by a final score of 11-10.

  • Brendan Gleason led Notre Dame with two goals, as the Irish had nine different players register goals in the game.

  • Senior goalkeeper Shane Doss kept the game close for Notre Dame, saving 11 shots on the afternoon.
