Irish and Tar Heels Meet In Regular Season Home Finale

Notre Dame Game Notes

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- 
Notre Dame welcomes No. 17/16 North Carolina at noon ET on Saturday at Arlotta Stadium. The game will be the regular-season home finale for the Irish and will be broadcast on ESPNU with Quint Kessenich (play-by-play) and Ryan Boyle (analyst) on the call.

The game is already sold out to the general public, as a capacity crowd is expected. Due to Saturday also being the day of the Blue-Gold Game parking will be at a premium. For Saturday's parking map, click here.

The North Carolina Series

  • Saturday will be the 16th meeting of all time between Notre Dame and North Carolina. The Irish will look to even up the series as the Tar Heels lead the series 8-7. 

  • The two teams met twice last season with North Carolina winning both matchups, the first in the regular season and the second in the quarterfinals in the NCAA Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

  • The Irish are 2-1 against the Tar Heels when playing in regular season ACC games and 4-2 when facing North Carolina at Notre Dame.

  • The series has featured a lot of close games, as 14 of the 15 meetings have been decided by three goals or fewer.

The Senior Class

Perkovic's Career Day

  • Sergio Perkovic turned in one of his best performances in his already storied career against Marquette on April 11, scoring a career-high six goals to deliver the Irish an 11-10 victory.

  • The midfielder scored the game winner with under 30 seconds to go to put Notre Dame on top for good.

  • The six goals came on just nine shots and the senior added a ground ball.

  • Sergio Perkovic has been named a finalist for the 2017 Senior CLASS Award. Vote here.
  • The Senior CLASS Award recipient will be announced during the 2017 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championships® in Boston, May 27-29.

  • To be eligible for the Senior CLASS Award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

Between The Pipes

  • Senior goalkeeper Shane Doss has been a mainstay in the Notre Dame starting lineup for the majority of his career, as he has racked up 44 starts in goal. 

  • Doss leads the ACC in goals against average (8.67 per game), save percentage (.540) and saves per game (9.67).

  • The goalkeeper ranks seventh on the Notre Dame all-time saves list with 436 in his career.

  • The senior has posted double-digit saves in four of his last six outings.
