Kevin Corrigan and David Ulrich Earn Great Western Lacrosse League Top Honors
Nine Irish players named to all-conference team.

Kevin Corrigan was named the GWLL Coach of the Year after leading Notre Dame to its most successful season in school history.

NOTRE DAME, Ind -- Irish men's lacrosse coach Kevin Corrigan was named the Great Western Lacrosse League Coach of the Year and senior attack David Ulrich (Baltimore, Md.) was named the GWLL Player of the Year as Notre Dame claimed two of the league's top three awards.

Corrigan, in his 13th season at Notre Dame, earns the honor for the fourth time in his coaching tenure. He has guided the Irish to its most successful season in school history as Notre Dame has registered a school-record 14 wins en route to a 14-1 campaign as his team has advanced to this weekends national semifinals for the first time in school history.

Ulrich ranks as the school's career assist leader with 108 assists in 55 career games and is a three-time all-conference first-team honoree. He has led the team in assists each of the past four years and ranks second in scoring this season with 19 goals and 27 assists (46 points). Ulrich stands third on the all-time career scoring list at Notre Dame with 69 and 108 assists for 177 points.

Nine Notre Dame players earned all-conference honors with seven of them selected for first-team accolades. Attackman Tom Glatzel (Baltimore, Md.), Ulrich, midfielder Steve Bishko (West Islip, N.Y.) and defenseman Mike Adams (Wilton. Conn.) were all repeat selections to the first team at their respective positions.

Glatzel and Ulrich headed the first-team attack unit which also included freshman Troy Bamann of Fairfield University, who was named the GWLL rookie of the year. Glatzel leads the Irish in scoring for the second straight year with personal bests of 40 goals and 27 assists for a career-high 67 points. He stands fourth on the all-time career scoring list at Notre Dame with 106 goals and 61 assists (167) and is just the fourth player in Irish history to score 100-plus goals during his career.

Bishko is one of two midfield players who has started all 15 games this season for the Irish. He has scored a personal best 19 goals in 2001 and added five assists. Adams has started all 15 games at defense for the Irish and has collected 33 ground balls.

Middie Todd Ulrich (Baltimore, Md.), defenseman A.J. Wright (Timonium, Md.) and goalie Kirk Howell (Nashville, Tenn.) were all first-team GWLL selections for the first time in their careers. Todd Ulrich played in all 15 games this season on Notre Dame's second midfield unit scoring a personal best 18 goals and dishing off eight assists for a personal best 26 points.

Wright, a junior, has started all 15 games for the Irish and has been instrumental in the Irish recording the lowing goals against average (6.60) in school history, a mark that ranks third nationally this season. Notre Dame's defense has held opponents to under 10 goal in all but two games this year, including six teams with five goals or fewer in a contest.

Howell has been the anchor to the Irish defense in ranks among the nation's leaders in goals against average (6.70) and save percentage (.641). He ranks third all-time in career at Notre Dame with 484.

Junior midfield John Flandina (West Islip, N.Y.) and sophomore long-stick middie John Souch (Watertown, N.Y.) were both second-team honorees for their respective positions. Flandina enjoyed his first season as a starter in the Irish lineup as he earned starting appearances in all 15 contests. He has registered single-season career bests of 20 goals and seven assists for 27 points this season. Souch has been one of Notre Dame's top long-stick players this season and has collected 49 ground balls. He is the only sophomore on the Irish roster who has seen action in every game during his career.
