North-South Game Rosters
NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Matt Miller, a senior defenseman on the University of Notre Dame men's lacrosse team, has been selected to play in Friday's 72nd annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/LAXWorld North-South Senior Game. The contest is slated for 5:30 p.m. (ET) at Edith Robb Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor, Pa.
Both 32-man teams are comprised of student-athletes from Division I and II. Miller (Warrenton, Va./Notre Dame Academy) will play for the North squad. He is the first Fighting Irish player to compete in the event since Peter Christman and Ryan Hoff in 2009.
This is the latest honor for Miller, who earlier this week was named to the USILA All-America Third Team in addition to being tapped as a USILA Scholar All-American. He also earned first team all-BIG EAST honors this season and is a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
Miller started every game this season in Notre Dame's close defense and helped that unit post an 8.31 goals-against average, which currently ranks 10th nationally. The Fighting Irish captain picked up 28 ground balls this season.
Last season, Miller earned honorable mention All-America honors in addition to being named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team. The Rochester Rattlers selected Miller in the sixth round (44th overall) of January's Major League Lacrosse Draft.
Notre Dame went 11-5 this season and earned the No. 2 seed in the NCAA Championship. The Fighting Irish defeated five top-10 teams and concluded the regular season with the nation's top RPI. Notre Dame fell to Duke, 12-11, Sunday in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championship.
