The Notre Dame men's lacrosse team came tantalizingly close to overcoming a six-goal deficit but fell just short as the Irish lost 11-9 to No. 1-seed Duke on Memorial Day Monday at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
The Irish trailed 8-2 in the third quarter and scored seven of the game's next nine goals to make it a 10-9 game, but couldn't quite get over the top.
Sergio Perkovic scored five goals to lead Notre Dame's offensive attack. Matt Kavanagh had two goals and added an assist for the Irish while Conor Kelly made 12 saves in net.
Kavanagh, Kelly and Perkovic were all named to the all-tournament team for teh Irish.
