NOTRE DAME, Ind. -
Four former University of Notre Dame men's lacrosse alumni will play for a championship this weekend, as Matt Kavanagh, Nick Ossello, Edwin Glazener and Scott Rodgers will play in the Major League Lacrosse championship game at 7 p.m. ET Saturday (Aug. 19) at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

The game will be televised live by CBS Sports Network.

Kavanagh and Ossello took home the title last summer with the Denver Outlaws and are joined this season by Glazener, while Rodgers is back in the final for a second consecutive season with the Ohio Machine.

In the MLL semifinals last weekend, Kavanagh recorded a team-high six assists, four coming in the fourth quarter. Denver punched its ticket to its second straight MLL title game appearance with a 15-8 win over the Rochester Rattlers in Denver. The Outlaws are attempting to win their third championship in the last four seasons.

In the other semifinal played in Columbus, Ohio, Rodgers and the Ohio Machine eliminated the Florida Launch 18-13 to return to the final for the second consecutive season.

From Rockville Centre, New York, Kavanagh is a 2016 Notre Dame graduate who finished as a four-time United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-American for the Irish (first team in 2015, second team in 2016 and 2014, honorable mention in 2013), the first Notre Dame player to accomplish that. He finished his career as Notre Dame's second-leading all-time scorer at 225 points (122 goals, 103 assists). His 33 assists in 2014 rank as an Irish season record, as well as 75 points that year. A three-time All-ACC pick, Kavanagh led the Irish in scoring in 2016 with 50 points.

A Wheat Ridge, Colorado, native, Ossello earned honorable mention All-America honors as a senior midfielder in 2015. The midfielder scored 41 goals and added 13 assists in his four seasons with the Irish. He also competed with the Notre Dame football team in 2015, competing in six games on special teams.

A product of La Jolla, California, Glazener is a 2016 Notre Dame graduate. The defenseman played in 47 games with the Irish over his four-year career, recording 43 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers.

Hailing from Wantagh, New York, Rodgers played in goal for the Irish from 2006-10, winning third-team USILA All-America recognition in 2009 and receiving honorable mention notice in 2010. He led the Irish to the 2010 NCAA Championship title game and was selected as the Most Outstanding Player in NCAA postseason competition that year. Rodgers holds the Notre Dame single-season goals-against average record at 6.14 in 2009.
