NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The 10th annual adidas/Meyo Invitational finished Saturday with 16 more participants reaching NCAA qualifying times at the two-day meet held at the Meyo Track and Field. Eight meet records and five track records also were broken over the two-day competition, which featured some of the top track and field talent in the country.

Notable day two performances came in the distance running events with former Valparaiso standout Collette Liss, now of the Indiana Invaders track club, winning the women's 3,000 meters with a Meyo track and meet record time of 8:58.47, more than 25 seconds faster than her nearest competitor, former Michigan All-American Katie McGregor (adidas). The men's 3,000 meters was another outstanding race with Alabama's Tim Broe running a NCAA automatic qualifying time of 7:55.41 for another meet record.

In the featured event of the meet, the Meyo Mile, Michigan's Jay Cantin ran a sub-four minute mile, finishing with an NCAA automatic time of 3:59.90. Meyo Track and meet records also were broken in the women's 400 meters and the women's 1,000 meters.

For Notre Dame, freshman Tameisha King (Mableton, Ga.) won the long jump (19-2 1/2), while senior Jennifer Engelhardt (Battle Creek, Mich.) posted her third straight first-place finish with a winning leap of 5-7 in the high jump. On the men's side, junior Terry Wray (Brandon, Miss.) earned a first-place finish in the 500 meters (1:03.11) and senior Brian Holinka (Niagara Falls, N.Y.) won the 1,000 meters (2:27.99).

The Irish were not to be left out of the NCAA qualifying race either, with sophomore Liz Grow (New Braunfels, Texas) posting an NCAA provisional time of 54.68 in the 400 meters and senior Phil Mishka (Toledo, Ohio) running a career-best and NCAA provisional time of 1:48.57 in the 800 meters. Both Mishka and Grow finished second in their respective races.

The Notre Dame men's and women's track and field squads will be back in action at the Butler Invitational, February 11-12 in Indianapolis, Ind. The last Notre Dame home indoor track meet, the Alex Wilson Invitational, will take place March 3-4.
