Irish Beat Indiana, Fall to Tennessee

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Notre Dame track and field team defeated Indiana University 85 -77, and lost to the University of Tennessee 84-78 in a dual meet at Indiana University.

Chris Cochran, Errol Williams, and Danny Payton each won their individual races and then combined with Bobby Brown to win the 4 x 400 meter relay team with a time of 3:14.11 which was also a new Notre Dame meet record.

Cochran won the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.71. Payton's 1:20.80 time in the 600 meter dash was also a Notre Dame meet record for the event. Williams established himself a provisional time and a new Notre Dame meet record of 7.29 in the 55 meter hurdles.

In the distance events, Mike Conway won the One mile run (4:14.65) and Jason Rexing won the 3,000 meter run(8:21.50).

The Fighting Irish come home to host the Meyo Invitational next weekend, February 6-7.
