Irish Compete at Central Collegiate Championships

Williams Runs at Canon IV Classic

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - The Notre Dame men's track and field team competed at the Central Collegiate Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich. Notre Dame collected 40 points to finish seventh out of 11 teams.

Eastern Michigan finished first with 179 1/2 points and Michigan was second with 102 points.

Notre Dame sophomore Marshaun West captured the only first-place finish for the Irish as he won the long jump with a personal best of 25-1 1/2, the second longest jump in Irish history. West's jump also provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Indoor Championships.

Sophomore Chris Cochran finished third in the 55-meter dash as he ran to a time of 6.42, and junior Bobby Brown placed fourth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.68.

Senior Kevin Reher finished fifth in the 55-meter hurdles as he raced to a time of 7.66 while the Irish 4 X 800 meter relay team placed fifth with a time of 7:51.10.
