Turner, Woods Earn Second Team NSCAA All-Mideast Regional Honors

NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- Senior forward RYAN TURNER (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and sophomore defender ALAN WOODS (Burtonsville, Md.) have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Mideast Region Second Team.

TURNER, who also earned all-BIG EAST Conference second team honors in 1997, led the Irish in scoring this season with 12 goals and five assists (29). He was the only Notre Dame player selected for league honors. TURNER, who missed his sophomore season (1995) because of injury served as an Irish co-captain this season. He finished his three-year career at Notre Dame with 21 goals and 16 assists.

lineup since his freshman season, had three goals and two assists this season. He helped anchor and Irish backfield that accounted for eight shutouts, while allowing just 1.29 goals per game.

Notre Dame posted a 10-9-2 record this season and finished tied for fifth in the BIG EAST regular-season standings with a 5-5-1 mark. The Irish advanced to the semifinals of the BIG EAST Conference championship for the second straight year after winning the tournament title in '96.
