    AS A SENIOR: One of the top attacking defensive players in the nation • has the ability to shut down opposing players defensively and contribute to the Irish offensive attack • an exciting player with tremendous passing range • has a strong left foot and is an option in the Irish set piece attack • has consistently improved all aspects of his game • will serve as an assistant captain for the Irish in 2004.

    AS A JUNIOR: Developed into one of the best defenders in the BIG EAST Conference and Great Lakes Region during the 2003 season • started all 23 games •all-BIG EAST second team selection • adidas/NSCAA all-Great Lakes Region second team pick • personal highlight of the season came in the second overtime vs. eventual National Champion Indiana at Alumni Field • redirected Chad Riley's free kick from the top of the penalty box for the game-winning goal in Notre Dame's 1-0 victory • ended up leading the team in assists with nine • totaled 11 points during the `03 season (one goal, nine assists) • named to College Soccer News' Team of the Week on Sept. 22 • also was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 22 • served as a catalyst for the Notre Dame offense on the left side • assisted Devon Prescod's game-winning goal in overtime vs. #11 California at the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic •notched an assist on Justin Detter's game-winning goal (3:21) at Pittsburgh (2-0 Irish victory) • helped another early-game goal at Providence, aiding Greg Martin's game-winning goal at 1:40 (2-0 Irish victory) • assisted on Justin Detter's first goal at #9 Virginia Tech, a game the Irish eventually won in overtime 2-1 • one of two players with an assist on Devon Prescod's game-winning goal vs. #25 Connecticut in the quarterfinals of the BIG EAST Championship at Alumni Field •assisted on yet another game-winning goal in the BIG EAST semifinal match vs. Providence, as Justin Detter headed in a free kick at 66:48 •nabbed two assists in the 4-1 victory over UW-Milwaukee in the second round of the NCAA Championship.

    AS A SOPHOMORE: A starter in all 21 of Notre Dame's contests during the 2002 season • credited with a goal and seven assists • scored the game-tying goal in 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Virginia Tech at the 80:05 mark of the contest off an assist from Chad Riley • assisted on Greg Martin's game-winning goal in 1-0 victory over Loyola as he scored in the 79th minute of the contest • dished off two assists for the second time against Villanova as he assisted on goals by Justin Detter and Erich Braun • had his first multiple-assist game of the season against Seton Hall, assisting on goals by Rafael Garcia and Justin Detter in 4-0 victory • provided one of the assists on the first of Erich's Braun's two goals which came 17 seconds into the contest against the Bears • assisted on Notre Dame's second goal in 2-0 win over Michigan State which was scored by Devon Prescod at the 64:40 mark of the contest • named to the all-tournament team at the Mike Berticelli Memorial Soccer Tournament • selected as the BIG EAST co-Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 9 • named to College Soccer News' Team of the Week for the week of November 4.

    AS A FRESHMAN: Played in all 19 games and started the final nine contests of the season • ranked among the team's top scorers and best among all rookies as he scored four goals and dished off five assists (13 points) • finished the season tied for third in scoring • netted a goal in three of Notre Dame's last five games • provided game-winning score 3:38 into the game off an assist from Andreas Forstner in 2-1 victory over Syracuse • one of four Irish goal scorers in win against IUPUI as he tallied an unassisted goal at the 56:14 mark of the contest and also dished off an assist on Griffin Howard's first goal of the season at the 63:42 mark of the contest • tallied Notre Dame's first goal of the game off an assist from Kevin Richards at the 58:01 mark in 2-0 win at Providence • scored the first Irish goal of the season (and first of his career) in the season-opening 5-0 win over Villanova • came off the bench and tallied his first collegiate goal on his first shot attempt at the 41:46 mark of the contest • credited with an assist on Erich Braun's goal which put the Irish up 2-1 against Bradley at the 54:05 mark • dished off his second assist of the season on the first of Braun's two scores at the 42:27 mark in 3-1 win over Georgetown • dished off the assist to Braun on his goal with two seconds remaining in regulation against Virginia Tech • along with Devon Prescod, assisted on Braun's game-winning goal in 1-0 win at sixth-ranked Indiana • named BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the week of Nov. 5 after scoring two goals and dishing off an assist in wins over IUPUI and Syracuse.

    HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Finished his career at Christian Brothers as one of the school's top players • enjoyed a record-setting career there helping his team to the Sierra Valley Conference crown as a senior • a three-time all-conference honoree and twice earned all-city honors • member of the Region IV Olympic Development Team • helped that squad to Region IV championship in the summer of 2000, as well as a runner-up finish at the national tournament • captained both his high school team and San Juan Lightning • registered 21 goals and 28 assists as a senior • concluded his high school career with 53 goals and 72 assists • led the San Juan Lightning to the semifinals of the Under-17 national youth championships in the summer of 2000 • three-year letterwinner in high school who also earned letters in football and golf • born Dec. 9, 1982 • son of Tim and Nancy Goldthwaite • enrolled as an accounting major in the Mendoza College of Business.
