Fourth-year midfield player offers great experience to Notre Dame
midfield unit • technically sound player who has filled a variety of
roles for the Irish during his career as both a starter and reserve
off the bench • technically solid player who makes good decisions on
the field • passes the ball extremely well and is a strong complement
to Justin Detter in the midfield • unselfish player who needs to look
for his shot and become more of an active scorer.
AS A JUNIOR: Played in 11 contests during the 2001 campaign and was
in the Irish starting lineup for the West Virginia game.
AS A SOPHOMORE: Played in 11 of the 17 games in 2000 and earned two
starts in those contests • was starter in both the Bradley and
Syracuse games.
AS A FRESHMAN: One of three freshmen to start all 20 games this
season • had two goals and four assists (eight points) and finished
as the team's third-leading scorer • tallied his first collegiate
goal in the fourth game of the season when he headed in a Connor
LaRose feed at the 13:18 mark of the contest that marked the game's
first goal in eventual 1-1 tie versus Pittsburgh • netted his second
score of the season in Notre Dame's 5-0 win over Villanova off
Stephen Maio's assist • dished off his first collegiate assist on
Ryan Cox's goal at 37:26 mark in 1-0 victory over Cleveland State •
assisted on the first of Erich Braun's two goals at 46:50 in 2-0 win
over Syracuse • had the first multiple-point game of his career
against Providence when he assisted on both of Dustin Pridmore's goals in 4-0 win over the Friars.
HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Finished prep career with 27 goals
and 45 assists as three-year starter on varsity team • led Novi to an
undefeated campaign in 1998 as team earned a national ranking of 13th
in the final scholastic poll while winning state, regional and
conference crowns • three-time Kensington Valley all-conference
choice as well as all-state selection • was twice named captain and
garnered MVP honors as a junior and senior • enjoyed tremendous
success with the Michigan Olympic Developmental Program at the
regional level • helped Vardar III club team capture four consecutive
state titles • a Dean's List honoree, he earned the highest grade-point average of any first-year male student-athlete • has been named
to the Dean's List all six semesters at Notre Dame • a two-time
member of the BIG EAST Academic All-Star team • member of the
Academic Honors Program which pairs gifted student-athetes with a
faculty mentor at the University • first-team selection to the NSCAA
North/Central Region Scholar Team in 2001 • born Jan. 18, 1981 •
majoring in mechanical engineering and is enrolled in the College of
Engineering.
