AS A SENIOR: Will serve as an assistant captain along with teammates Justin Detter, Devon Prescod and Kevin Richards • looks to cap off his senior year with his best season ever • one of the most talented passers in the nation • has been the Irish assist leader in each of his three seasons • already stands fourth all-time with 24 career assists heading into final collegiate campaign • has a passion for the game and is a player who demands a lot of himself and his teammates • possesses offensive ability to be a consistent goal-scoring threat and coaching staff is hoping he will look to score more this season. AS A JUNIOR: Earned third team all-BIG EAST honors for the second straight year • was in the starting lineup for each of Notre Dame’s 21 games • led team in assists for the third straight year with 12 and ranked 14th nationally with 0.57 assists per game • second-leading scorer on the team with 20 points as he also scored four goals • his 12 assists marked the most in a season by an Irish player since Randy Morris had 12 in 1998 • his 24 career assists ranks fourth all-time • assisted on Rafael Garcia’s game-winning goal at the 68:23 mark in NCAA tournament first round win over Akron • dished off assists on both Irish goals in 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Virginia Tech • assisted on Kevin Goldthwaite’s goal at the 80:05 mark of the contest which tied the game at 1-1 and then dished off the assist on Erich Braun’s game-winning goal at 82:09 mark • had a goal and an assist in Notre Dame’s 5-0 win at Villanova • tallied the first Irish goal at the 22:20 mark and then assisted on Devon Prescod’s goal at the 36:00 mark • netted his third goal of the season in Notre Dame’s 2-0 win over Michigan State • tallied first Irish goal at the 43:39 mark of the contest off assists from Kevin Richards and Justin Detter • dished off a career-high three assists in 5-1 win over Providence • assisted on one of Erich Braun’s two goals in the contest and was credited with the assist on both of Luke Boughen’s two second-half goals • scored Notre Dame’s second goal of the game versus Bradley which gave the Irish 2-1 advantage at the 63:50 mark in eventual 3-2 loss • credited with two goals and four assists in Notre Dame’s last three games versus Furman, Bradley and Providence • had a goal and an assist in Notre Dame 2-1 double overtime victory over #7 Furman • gave the Irish a 1-0 lead on a direct kick at the 88:30 mark of the contest and then dished off one of the two assists on Greg Martin’s game-winning goal versus the Paladins at the 107:29 mark • in the season opener against Southwest Missouri State, he assisted on Greg Martin’s goal at the 57:29 mark of the contest which gave the Irish a 2-1 advantage in the contest • assisted on the second of Erich Braun’s two goals at the 71:35 mark in 4-0 win over Seton Hall • had the assist on Justin Detter’s game-tying goal at the 79:15 mark in Notre Dame’s 1-1 double overtime tie at Rutgers • dished off assist on Jack Stewart’s game winning goal at the 71:25 mark in 1-0 win against Akron. AS A SOPHOMORE: A third-team all-BIG EAST honoree • played in all 19 contests and earned 17 starts • scored one goal and dished off a team-leading six assists • netted his only goal of the season in Notre Dame’s 1-0 win over Georgetown in BIG EAST quarterfinal match off an assist from Jack Stewart 10:28 into the contest • had two multiple-assist games in wins over Georgetown and Boston College • dished off the assist on Erich Braun’s eventual game-winning goal against the Hoyas at the 68:08 mark and then assisted on Justin Detter’s insurance goal at the 79:25 mark • also dished off two assists in 2-0 win over the Eagles as he assisted on goals by Devon Prescod and Braun • registered his first point of the season against Bradley when he assisted on Justin Ratcliffe’s goal 7:58 into the contest in eventual 3-2 victory • also had an assist in West Virginia outing on the first of Prescod’s two goals. AS A FRESHMAN: Came to Notre Dame after spending his senior year in high school playing soccer in England while attending the American Community School in Cobham, England • became the third freshman in as many seasons to lead the Irish in scoring as he tallied three goals and dished off a team-high six assists • selected to the BIG EAST All-Rookie squad • was twice honored as the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week • started 16 of the 17 games he played • had the game-winning goal off an assist from Justin Detter at the 82:52 mark in Notre Dame’s 1-0 win over 10th-ranked St. John’s • collected a goal and an assist in 3-0 win at Syracuse which were the first points of his career • was one of two freshmen goal scorers in 2-0 win over West Virginia as he tallied his third goal of the season of an assist from Dustin Pridmore at the 57:12 mark of the contest • also dished off assists in the Cleveland State, Pittsburgh, Providence and Villanova contests • had the assist on the first of Erich Braun’s two scores in 2-1 victory at Villanova. HIGH SCHOOL AND PERSONAL DATA: Selected to the adidas All-America Team at the national Under-18 national camp • was a member of the Texas Olympic Development Program for five years • served as captain of Region III ODP team • member of the Houston Hurricanes club team from 1991-98 • member of the Under-18 national team pool, he played two years at Cypress Springs and one year at Langham Creek in Texas • earned first-team all-Greater Houston area honors following his junior season • played his senior year for Walton & Herscham (a club team in Weybridge, England) and also trained with Fulhmam Portsmouth, one of the top two youth teams in England • two-time member of BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team • born Dec. 31, 1981 • son of Greg and Vicki Riley • a theology major enrolled in the College of Arts and Letters. |
