SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Junior forward Harrison Shipp notched his first career hat trick as the No. 7 Notre Dame men's soccer team downed Seton Hall 6-1 on Saturday night at Owen T. Carroll Field.

Notre Dame (11-3-0, 3-2-0) also received goals from Alex Priede, Patrick Hodan and Ryan Finley, who also had two assists. The Fighting Irish have scored 16 goals in their last three BIG EAST contests. Notre Dame combined for 10 goals in league wins over Pittsburgh (7-1) and Georgetown (3-0) last week.

Priede, a junior forward, opened the scoring in the 18th minute when he took a pass from Leon Brown and deposited his fourth goal of the season. Shipp's first tally of the match came in the 38th minute on an assist from Finley.

Seton Hall (6-7-0, 2-2-0) made it a 2-1 contest in the 42nd minute on George Velasquez goal, which was assisted by Konrad Plewa.

Notre Dame responded just over a minute later as Hodan, a freshman midfielder, scored off a Nick Besler pass. It was the fourth goal of the season for the rookie, who has a team-best four-game point streak. The Irish led 3-1 at halftime.

The Fighting Irish upped their lead to three (4-1) in the 71st minute on Shipp's second goal, which also was assisted by Finley. That was the first of three Irish goals that were scored in less than nine minutes. Finley netted his team-leading 11th goal of the season in the 74th minute off a pass from Hodan.

Shipp tallied the game's final goal in the 79th minute off an assist from Dillon Powers. Powers, a senior midfielder, leads the Irish with five assists this season.

Notre Dame had a 17-10 advantage in shots and a 7-3 edge in corner kicks for the match. Fighting Irish senior goalkeeper Will Walsh made one save to notch the win and improve his record to 5-2 this season. Kevin Bonder made five saves for the Pirates.

Shipp's hat trick was the first for a Notre Dame player since Bright Dike netted three goals in a 5-0 win over Michigan on Sept. 1, 2009.

Tonight was Bobby Clark's 300th career victory as a college head coach. Clark, who is in his 12th season with the Irish, has a 147-67-34 record at Notre Dame. He was 71-21-12 at Stanford (1996-2001) and 82-42-13 at Dartmouth (1985-93).

The Fighting Irish return to the pitch next Saturday when they play host to BIG EAST Blue Division foe Providence. Kickoff is scheduled for noon (ET) at Alumni Stadium.
