No. 23 Notre Dame Falls to SMU

NOTRE DAME, Ind. ---The 23rd ranked Notre Dame men's soccer team had its four-game win streak snapped on Friday night as they dropped a 1-0 decision to No. 4 Southern Methodist.

Paul Broome's heel kick into the net past Irish goalkeeper Greg Velho provided all of the scoring. Being that it was kicked with just 42 seconds left in regulation, Notre Dame didn't have much of a chance for retaliation.

SMU, which improves to 7-1 with its fifth straight win, outshot the Irish 13-2.

The lone goal broke a streak of four straight shutouts that Velho, who had five saves in the contest, had helped the Irish attain. That goal also gave Notre Dame its first road loss of the season, as their road record falls to 2-1-2.

Notre Dame continues their Texas road swing with a match against Texas Christian on Sunday, October fifth at 1:00 p.m.
