MORGANTOWN, W.Va.-- Notre Dame continues its fight to repeat as Big East champion as they shut out West Virginia 3-0 on Saturday.

Both teams played tenacious defense throughout the first hallf. However, unfortunately for the Mountaineers, the Irish came out of the first half with a 2-0 lead.

The first of those goals came when Ryan Turner scored his fourth goal of the season on a pass from Scott Wells.

Notre Dame added their second goal just before the end of the first on a loose ball corner kick that Matt McNew nailed into the net. That goal not only put the Irish up by two, but it took the bite out of the opponents efforts.

Scott Wells truly put the game out of reach in the second half with his first goal of the game with assists going to Ryan Turner and Connor LaRose.

Notre Dame (3-2-2, 2-0-1) played excellent defense in the shutout and has yet to give up a goal in Big East play. WVU drops to (2-6-0, 0-4-0).
