NOTRE DAME, Ind. -- University of Notre Dame men's soccer coach Mike Berticelli has been elected senior vice president for education of the National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) Executive Board at its recent annual meeting.

Berticelli is one of just four NSCAA member coaches who has served the organization as Director of Coaching. Over the years, he has been very instrumental in overseeing the growth and development of the NSCAA's educational program for its coaches.

Presently, the NSCAA has 22 members on its Board of Directors, seven of whom comprise the executive committee. The NSCAA is the largest single-sport coaching organization in the United States with more than 14,600 members.

Berticelli, who recently completed his 10th season at Notre Dame and 24th overall at the collegiate level, has a 104-79-18 mark with the Irish and a 291-134-41 ledge in his coaching career. He has coached at four different schools - Thomas College, UNC-Greensboro, Old Dominion and Notre Dame - and has experienced tremendous success throughout his 24-year tenure. He led UNC Greensboro to back-to-back Division III national championships in 1982 and 1983. The Notre Dame mentor has led the Irish to three of its four NCAA tournament appearances (1993, 1994 and 1996).

Berticelli also chairs the Great Lakes Region Ratings Board and is a member of the National Rating Board.
