Irish To Face NCAA’s Best In 2018

June 6, 2018

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – As the 2018 season draws ever closer, the University of Notre Dame men’s soccer team prepares for one of the strongest schedules in NCAA Division I soccer. With a total of 10 fellow 2017 NCAA Championship participants on the upcoming docket, including three of the four teams that took part in last season’s NCAA Men’s College Cup, the Irish will face a myriad of the nation’s top teams over a 17-game regular-season slate this fall.

Highlighting the upcoming Notre Dame schedule on the pitch is a nonconference showdown with 2017 national runner-up Indiana (Sept. 11) at Alumni Stadium. The Hoosiers will be the first of three returning 2017 College Cup qualifiers to travel to the Notre Dame campus in 2018, along with national semifinalists North Carolina (Sept. 21) and Akron (Oct. 23).

A host of teams that also took part in the 2017 NCAA Championship that adorn the Notre Dame schedule include Dartmouth (Sept. 2), Virginia (Sept. 14), Michigan State (Sept. 17), Louisville (Oct. 6), Duke (Oct. 12), Michigan (Oct. 16) and Virginia Tech (Oct. 19). The Michigan State, Louisville and Virginia Tech contests will each take place at Alumni Stadium.

Notre Dame returns 22 veteran players from last season’s squad that posted an 11-7-2 mark, including a 3-3-2 clip in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), reached the semifinals of the ACC Championship and qualified for the NCAA Championship for the 20th time in program history. The Irish have been one of the nation’s top 16 seeds in the NCAA tournament on 12 different occasions, including 2003 (No. 5), 2006 (No. 12), 2007 (No. 10), 2008 (No. 12) and 2010 (No. 9) with new head coach Chad Riley either serving as a team captain or on staff as an assistant coach.

Season tickets are now available for the 2018 Notre Dame men’s soccer season. Early bird pricing of $30 is in effect until July 1, a savings of $10 off the full $40 price of a season ticket. Single-game admission remains $5 for adults and $3 for youth/seniors and as a group rate per ticket for those looking to attend games at Alumni Stadium.
